Cooling Air for Switching BEC?
  • On my Zephyr2 plane, I've fitted a Castle Creations switching BEC and disabled the internal BEC on the speed controller. The speed controller is located where it has very good air flow but I have located the BEC under the hatch and now am questioning that decision.

Does a switching BEC need airflow for cooling?

  • Very little. You should be fine. Switching BECs are very efficient, hence they are not going to get very warm, if at all.
